  • The caption "Would you eat bugs?" Why, yes, I would, and have. And not just the gimmicky ones sold as a novelty, and not including the maguey worm in a bottle of mezcal. 😁 I'm a fan of Mexican food, and fried grasshoppers are a popular bar snack in Mexico, and then there's the ant egg "huaraches" as street food in Mexico City. And then there's southeast Asian cuisine... My biggest issue is maybe the legs left on the novelty ones. Chipulines usually have them removed... Ever get a grasshopper leg stuck between your teeth? 😁

  • I read there were bugs in it, and thought “cochineal.” I’d learned about the years ago after reading they were an ingredient in ruby red grapefruit juice, and researched about them. I’d still eat them over blood sausage.

Alongside with Murx, a small shell which gave the 'pourpre' which is a very vibrant red and was a royal color for this reason, they were rare and expensive collors. i beleive this has been used since he greatest antiquities, at least since the Herew.
